The Bay School is a small Waldorf school on the coast of Maine. It was founded in 1980 by parents who desired a more wholistic, hands-on approach towards educating their children and is based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. As a student for eight years at the Bay School, I learned a great deal of the natural history skills I now rely on as an outdoor educator, as well as the strong foundation of art skills that have enabled me to pursue scientific illustration as a career. Bay School students learn in a balanced, community oriented atmosphere that allows all of the children to succeed in their current academic studies as well as develop life-long learning skills.
